Seyi Adeleye is an Oil and Gas executive with 30 years exploration and production experience acquired from deep involvement in local & international technical, operations, project delivery, and a variety of broader exposure to commercial, new technology deployment, business performance, improvement & support.
Seyi started his career in 1990 with Michelin, first as Technical Trainer and then Industrial Engineer / Management Trainee. Following this, he moved to Shell where he worked for about 20 years in a variety of operational and leadership roles within Technical Limit Well Delivery, Business Support, Benchmarking, Projects Delivery, in local operating units in Nigeria and Brunei, and global functions in the Deepwater Technology Center of Excellence based in USA.
Some of his achievements during this period included; leading & integrating high performance teams to a string of successful well delivery projects, a host of DTL Top-Trick team award winning projects, contributions to the local, regional and global design & deployment of major change programmes like Technical Limit methodology, big lever, Opportunity realization process and discipline standards, contracts for new special build rigs, & new technology implementation, software development to support wells business planning & scenario evaluation as well as SAP Wells global implementation. culminating in being named in 2007 The Global Principal Technical Expert for Well Delivery Promise Assurance with responsibility to authenticate project promises and delivery capability for Shell Top 70 projects over USD 500m and any Shell share spend over USD 100m.
Seyi progressed his career with a move back to Nigeria, where he worked for almost 6 years with Oando Energy Resources (OER) during its growth and formative phase. He served as the Head of Acquisition, Maturation and Development and later Chief Technical Officer with responsibility for all E&P technical delivery from Exploration through development and operations to abandonment or relinquishment. Notable successes include achieving first oil in Qua-Ibo field in 2014. He moved on from OER to focus on his consulting practice, which provides value added services to the industry and aims at grooming the next-generation industry professionals.
Seyi holds a BSc. Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Edinburgh Business School, Herriot Watt University, Scotland. He is a member of leading industry professional associations including Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society for Quality (ASQ), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
